Campus Reports: East Bay

Associated Students, Inc. of California State University, East Bay serves as the official governing body of CSU East Bay students, advances their causes and provides programs and services designed to meet the varied needs of East Bay’s students. Promoting the interests and needs of CSU East Bay’s most vulnerable students and developing campus life for all students remain ASI’s most important goals. ASI has made student government more responsive to the student body, increased funding for campus programming and student organizations, and reinforced shared governance.

Key Accomplishments

Campus Life: ASI has improved campus life in two ways. First, ASI Presents has developed life at CSU East Bay by increasing on-campus events and activities that include concerts, intramural sports and seminars. Second, ASI has streamlined its student organization funding procedures so that the hundreds of student organizations at CSU East Bay can host the events and activities that inspire, motivate and inform the campus community.

Legislative Agenda: ASI has worked with CSU East Bay faculty and staff to reinforce the Master Plan for Higher Education. By working in solidarity with professors, ASI has lobbied CSU East Bay’s regional legislators to secure more funding for the CSU and the many needs of its students. In addition, ASI has established a Lobby Corps, comprised of leaders of campus student organizations, with a focus of making a CSU higher education a statewide priority.

Wellness-Recreation-Diversity Center: ASI has begun the preliminary stages of building a center dedicated to the health, leisure and multicultural needs of CSU East Bay’s students. ASI will work diligently to exhaust private donations and public grants to fund the center before the consideration of increasing student fees.
