Campus Reports: Fullerton
The Associated Students, Inc. of California State University, Fullerton placed its goals for 2005-2007 into seven categories: to maintain the “Fullerton Way” and advocate internally for students, provide leadership development for current and future ASI leaders, provide recognition/scholarship/educational opportunities to students, manage ASI’s budget, advocate for students externally through local/state/national forums, and develop a strong campus community through events, outreach and school spirit/pride.
Key Accomplishments
Academic Senate: ASI worked closely with the Academic Senate to ensure students were represented on all university decision-making bodies. During the fall and spring semesters of 2006-2007, ASI had student representation on more than 95 percent of university-wide and Academic Senate committees.
Titan Shops: ASI has been able to establish a good working relationship with Titan Shops. Through the textbook requisition program, ASI encouraged faculty to turn in book requisitions on time. When departments turn in book requisitions on time, the Academic Senate and Associated Students, CSUF, Inc. receive money from Titan Shops in order to fund students’ scholarships. ASI wanted to ensure that book requisitions were increased for the 2005-2006 academic year in order to increase scholarship funds available to students. During the fall and spring semesters, ASI reached an unprecedented amount of book requisitions that were received on time.
Titan Tusk Force: Titan Tusk Force had an increased number of involved members. Increase in membership garnered widespread support for the two large Titan Tusk Force tailgate events that occurred each semester, making these parties a tradition at CSU Fullerton. These successful events boosted attendance and participation at athletic events. Titan Tusk Force also held its first-ever “Win a Date with an Athlete” auction, in which students were able to bid on their favorite CSU Fullerton athletes for a chance at a date with them. Through this event, Titan Tusk Force raised more than $500 for Camp Titan.
State of the Student Address: ASI organized the first-ever State of the Student Address in May 2006 that informed students about ASI’s progress for the 2005-2006 academic year as well as its goals for 2006-2007.
