2002-2003 Lobby Corps Vision

 



  • Empower students by showing them how to use their power

  • Learn how to lobby and see how students can effect decision-makers in Sacramento & locally.

  • Have an organized group of student volunteers—ones that aren’t busy representatives—to do voter registration & promote awareness of student issues.

  • Get to know our legislative representatives, and to regularly visit their district offices.

  • To encourage political awareness and general civic responsibility for students

  • Create Pilot program packets and reference manual and to keep better records of accomplishments.

  • Actually meet national, state, and local representatives.

  • Develop an internship program and host forums with speakers.

  • Ensure some sort of permanency and ensure continuity by establishing a permanent structure, vice president.

  • Create a plan of action, maintain a buzz, and increase the visibility of Lobby Corps.

  • Learn to schmooze: Attend mixers, talk to committee staff.

  • Explore the ability for campuses to self-select Lobby Corps of leadership on the campus level.

  • Improve recruiting new member development

  • Working on voter registration and producing election forums.

  • Communicating statewide with a list serve, e-groups, and email.
