2002-2003 Lobby Corps Vision
- Empower students by showing them how to use their power
- Learn how to lobby and see how students can effect decision-makers
in Sacramento & locally.
- Have an organized group of student volunteers—ones that
aren’t busy representatives—to do voter registration
& promote awareness of student issues.
- Get to know our legislative representatives, and to regularly
visit their district offices.
- To encourage political awareness and general civic responsibility
for students
- Create Pilot program packets and reference manual and to keep
better records of accomplishments.
- Actually meet national, state, and local representatives.
- Develop an internship program and host forums with speakers.
- Ensure some sort of permanency and ensure continuity by establishing
a permanent structure, vice president.
- Create a plan of action, maintain a buzz, and increase the
visibility of Lobby Corps.
- Learn to schmooze: Attend mixers, talk to committee staff.
- Explore the ability for campuses to self-select Lobby Corps
of leadership on the campus level.
- Improve recruiting new member development
- Working on voter registration and producing election forums.
- Communicating statewide with a list serve, e-groups, and email.
