ABOUT SYSTEMWIDE COMMITTEES
The 2017/2018 Systemwide Committees Application will be available Wednesday, March 1, 2017. All applications are due no later than Sunday, April 9, 2017 at 11:59 pm.
To better the California State University (CSU) student experience, several systemwide committees have been developed to provide resources, best practices, and policies, addressing issues that impact the 23 California State University campuses. In efforts to increase shared governance, the CSU Office of the Chancellor has encouraged the appointment of CSU students to provide their unique perspectives in suggesting “policies, procedures, and practices that can strengthen shared governance in the CSU at the system level.” While systemwide committees address broad areas, each uniquely impacts student success. Additionally, in order to increase accessibility to students, the CSU Office of the Chancellor covers costs associated with travel and lodging for student systemwide committee members.
STUDENT COMMITTEE MEMBER APPOINTMENT PROCESS
Each year, the California State Student Association (CSSA) is granted the opportunity to nominate CSU students to serve on a number of systemwide committees, representing students of the California State University system. Upon the deadline of the applications, the CSSA President, in consultation of the CSSA Board of Directors, will nominate students to the CSU Office of the Chancellor to any committee vacancies for one or two year terms. Upon verification of eligibility of the nominees, the CSU Office of the Chancellor will make the official appointments to the committees.
CSU students interested in applying to serve on a systemwide committee will utilize the following process:
- Ensure you have met and intend to meet the requirements prescribed by the CSU Office of the Chancellor Coded Memo AA-2012-05 (page 3).
- Review the 2017/2018 committee vacancies, including term length and number of vacancies.
- Review the 2017/2018 Systemwide Committees Information Packet and gather the information required.
- Submit your ‘2017/2018 Systemwide Committees Application’ on or before the deadline.
